Hello from the “New” Holmesfield Village Society Committee!

The Village Society was established over 25 years ago to raise funds and run events that help bring together the people of Holmesfield and the Parish. It’s also worth noting, that while it’s called the ‘Holmesfield Village Society’, the Society does actually include all the villages in the Parish. The Village Society has achieved many things over the years, not least the building of facilities such as the children’s playground and the Millennium Garden for the enjoyment of us all.

In our first few weeks we have already drawn upon the experience and knowledge of the previous committee, which has been invaluable, and we want to extend huge thanks to them for all the hard work they have done over recent years, and we know that we can count on their continued support.

The Holmesfield Market Committee also deserve a HUGE thank-you for the work they have done in particular over the last two years during exceptionally tough times for us all. They have helped to shape and strengthen the goodwill and community spirit that now exists in our village and they were quick to form support networks for the benefit of all our villagers during the various lockdowns we have been through. The Market Committee will now focus more on running the amazing markets which we missed so much during lockdowns. The next Holmesfield Market is on Saturday 4th December – be sure not to miss it – come along and support artisan stalls and get your Christmas shopping underway!

The new Holmesfield Village Society committee was formed in October 2021 and we have already planned a number of special Christmas events in the village to end the year, which we very much hope you will come along and support – we have our first movie night at The Village Hall on the 12th December which is the family Christmas classic The Polar Express and this is already a sell-out event!

On 19th December we have Santa coming to the village and he will be in his Grotto at the George & Dragon, followed by carols around the trees in the Millennium Gardens with hot mulled cider and mince pies. Look out for our updates and posts on the Holmesfield Facebook page.

We are very much hoping that with the Market Committee’s and your support, we can run more great activities in our gorgeous village in 2022. The Holmesfield Village Society committee normally meet every Monday at 6.30pm in the George & Dragon. We welcome all ideas and suggestions and look forward to recruiting volunteers. We hope you will want to get involved!
